Modification Requests (MRF's)


Modification to the exterior of your home may require approval from the Homeowners Association (HOA).  When required, HOA approval must be obtained prior to starting work on the project. Failure to obtain HOA approval before work begins can result in a $200 fine.

The NF Modification Request Form (MRF) along with the NF Rules and Regulations offer important information about which projects require the HOA approval process.
Completed MRF forms are submitted to Heritage Property Management Services (see form for instructions). Allow 30 days from the date the form is received by Heritage for HOA (NF Architectural Standards Committee) review and approval of the project.

You will be notified by email and in writing if your request is approved or denied. Approval to start the project is good for 120 days. Once the project is started, it must be completed within one year.  If your request is denied by the Architectural Standards Committee (ASC), you may request a hearing with the NF Board of Directors. The City of Alpharetta requires a Permit to remove certain trees (dead or alive) within the City limits.

The City uses an "online tree removal permitting process". As part of the process, applicants are required to create an online account with the City and complete the “online” tree removal application. “Tree Removal Instructions” are available on the City of Alpharetta website at

Approved removal documents must be posted in a location VISIBLE FROM THE ROAD during the tree removal process.
